Commonly Used Text Tags (continued)Creating HeadingsHeading tags are a quick and easy way to add organizational structure and headlines to your documents. There are six of them: <H1> through <H6>. <H1> is the largest and <H6> the smallest, as shown below. Headings are rendered in bold text and remain separated from other text by a blank line.
Sometimes people use a particular heading tag because it produces text of the approximate size they are seeking, but this is really not the proper use of heading tags and may throw off text-based browsers used by handicapped site visitors. Heading tags should correspond to the structure of the document, with H1 being the title, H2 the first-level headlines, H3 second level, and so on. Control of text size and appearance is more properly accomplished through the use of the <FONT> tag. |
